Grayshott has received special recognition at the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Village of the Year awards for the category ‘Regeneration & Improvement of Community Facilities & Infrastructure’.
Clive Slaughter chairman of the Parish Council, Phil Bates, Tim Wicks and David Williams recently attended the awards evening on behalf of the Village and were pleased to be presented with two certificates.
Grayshott also came third in the overall ‘2014 Village of the Year Award’ which again was a great achievement and adds to our previous successes.
Laura Musco, Clerk to the Parish was the main drive behind entering the competition and pulled everything together regarding our entry.
Phil said “I would like to thank Laura on behalf of the village for all the work she put it which is much appreciated throughout the village. In fact having been previously involved with the Village of the Year Competition I consider 2014 to be one of the best entries so far.”
Phil’s input as Chairman of The Village Archive was to put forward an article regarding what the village was doing regarding the ‘Remembrance & Commemoration of the Great War’ which is substantial and has had great community involvement.
Tim and David were representing the new monthly Grayshott Markets which have been an astounding success. The next one is this Saturday 18th October in the Square starting at 9.30am. In another innovation for Grayshott they have also organised a free shuttle SHOPPA bus service to bring shoppers from as far as Headley and Hindhead to the market.
