A rare chance to catch Fish & Bird in Grayshott

On Thursday 15th January Grayshott Folk Club welcomes Fish & Bird, an alternative folk-country five piece band on tour from the West coast of Canada. Fish & Bird are currently touring the UK to promote their latest album which has been getting rave revues and they will be appearing at Grayshott Social Club.

Des O’Byrne the inspiration behind Grayshott Folk Club said “I’m genuinely excited about welcoming Fish & Bird to Grayshott. They are over from Canada for their first ever tour of the UK and I feel sure they are destined for bigger things.”

The band consists of Taylor Ashton on vocals, banjo and acoustic guitar, Adam Iredale-Gray, fiddle and vocals, Ryan Boeur on electric and acoustic guitars, Ben Kelly, drums and percussion and Zoe Guigueno on upright bass and vocals. They play their own unique style of Folk-Country music.

Rob Fearnley, writing for Fatea magazine, described Fish and Bird’s recently released fourth album “Something In The Ether” as:

“a folk/alternative crossover record of rare quality – a solidly brilliant album,” and added

“This is a genuinely exciting band who stand head and shoulders above the pack and who are likely to continue to set the benchmark for modern folk, for years to come.”

Fiddle Head Records:

“this is a unique and highly skilled album that constantly repays and reveals new depths with repeated listening sessions……… if like me, you like challenging rootsy music that you can listen to and get lost in, you will not find better this year. In fact of its kind I’ve not heard better this century! Taylor Ashton’s lead vocal is always beautifully warm and melodic, often having an appealing mellow tone, something that could give the album a little mainstream appeal.

Of course, albums such as this should be in the mainstream and selling by the millions……..”
