The committee of the ‘Hidden Gardens of Grayshott’ are delighted to announce the date we anticipate opening the gardens in 2017 which will again be on the Whitsun Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday 28th and 29th May.
However, before we are carried away with plans for next year we thought you would be interested to hear how we have distributed the phenomenal £7,000 that was raised last year.
Grayshott Primary School have purchased primary school sized tools from the funds and the ever enthusiastic Cindy Reynolds has started a gardening club, hoping to imbue the next generation of Alan Titchmarshes and Charlie Dimmocks, in this new extra curricula activity.
Some money has been allocated specifically to spruce up the beds in front of Lloyds Bank as this central location is in need of some Tender Loving Care. Once again we have made a larger donation to the Parish Council to support them in the maintenance of the gardens in the village, around the War Memorial, the car parks and most delightfully in the summer the hanging baskets.
Donec Mews, who opened their gardens for us all to view, to great acclaim, for the first time last year are planning to create a ‘Sensory Garden’ which we can imagine will be hugely appreciated by all the residents there and so we have agreed to donate towards their costs of this new development.
Slightly outside of our normal remit we have also agreed to make a contribution to the ‘Winter Lights’ that brighten our village and hearts through the dark and dismal days of winter organised by the BIG Committee.
We very much hope that you will agree this is money well spent, we do have a small amount we can still distribute over and above of what we will need to set up the 2017 Hidden Gardens, so if you have an idea or thought of where this can be used for the benefit of the whole community please contact a member of the Committee (details below).
None of this would be possible at all without all the wonderful garden hosts that make it such a well known spectacle, if you would like to open your garden in 2017, we would be delighted to hear from you. Big, Small, Amazing, Work in Progress, Wild or Wooly all are welcome so please contact a member of the Committee (details below)
