Return of the Race Night

They were under starter’s orders at Grayshott Social Club on Friday 13th May for a race night and fundraising extravaganza, sponsored by Grayshott’s very own village website, and Huntington House & Langham Court, which offer excellent nursing care and specialist dementia care, to raise money for PK Pre-School.

pkPK is a community-run pre-school with charitable status. It is a hugely important part of Grayshott village and well loved by past and present attendees and their parents. The pre-school holds a very special place in the community and this was evident by the amount of support and good-will that was shown in the run-up to the fundraiser and particularly on the night itself.

Thanks to a hugely successful evening and the generosity of the overall sponsors, race sponsors and 60 guests that attended the race night, a staggering £3154 was raised, which will update equipment for the children, purchase books, arts & crafts materials, and maintain their building.

The race night was odds on to be a good evening from the start, in addition to the raucous enjoyment of the horse racing, there was the chance to win fantastic prizes in a balloon raffle.

The silent auction proved a huge hit with 10 prizes including a delicious meal from Applegarth and a generous prize from Harlequins rugby team, a shirt signed by the players that also play for England. So well done to all whose top bids secured their prizes!

As they enjoyed a thrilling evening, racegoers enjoyed a fabulous buffet supper from Grayshott’s Social Club washed down with Nick’s finest beer and wine.

PK would like to thank the hundreds of people who made the race night a huge success by sponsoring the evening and by donating time, goods and services.

Meg Morgan, Chair of the PK Committee said “We are blown away by the amount of goodwill that local and national businesses have shown to support PK. We would like to extend particular thanks to and Huntington House for sponsoring the event, Grayshott Social Club for their very warm welcome and the sponsors of the races”.
