Buddy Bonus at Grayshott Folk Club

Grayshott Folk Club brings another successful season to an end with a bonus gig at Grayshott Social Club on Thursday 16th June @ 7.30pm

We are featuring two musicians from Nashville, who have been on tour in Ireland and are now staying nearby, whilst they do a few dates in the UK. Buddy Mondlock has recorded an album with the legendary ART GARFUNKEL and written songs for top Country performers such as Garth Brooks, Nanci Griffiths, Janis Ian and Joan Baez, to name a few. Mike Landauer is a terrific Bass player who has played on many albums by top Nashville musicians and has toured with Buddy for many years.

We also have a talented singer/songwriter/guitarist called Andrew Foster playing for us. He is coming up from Worthing for the gig and is very good in his own right.

You can read more about Buddy Mondlock below and we are very grateful to Grayshott Social Club for agreeing to host this event in their Function Room, which is a comfortable and intimate venue with drinks at Club prices.

Buddy is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who was born in Chicago but nowadays he and Bass player Mike are both based in Nashville. They have recently completed a highly successful tour of Ireland and have come to stay with friends in the UK for a short while. Whilst staying here, they have decided to do a few select gigs at short notice and I jumped at the chance of booking them, not least because I really like the album called “Everything Waits To Be Noticed” which Buddy recorded with ART GARFUNKEL and Maia Sharp a few years ago. It proved to be invaluable in helping my daughter get to sleep when she was little……………..

Buddy has written songs for Garth Brooks, Nanci Griffith, Janis Ian and Joan Baez, amongst others and has recorded six of his own albums in all. His style can be described as Country/Folk but either way, it is gentle and melodic.

Now Buddy’s back with a new solo recording, hitting the road performing and leading songwriting workshops, and of course, writing songs. Cause that’s what he does and that’s who he is. Lean in and listen, you won’t be sorry.

“Repeated instances of magic woven by word and melody are what constitute a great album, and from the outset to the final dying note Mondlock’s The Memory Wall shines.”   Maverick Magazine

Support: Andrew Foster – is a talented singer/songwriter/guitarist who lives in Worthing. He has been playing at different venues along the South Coast for several years and his visit to Grayshott is long overdue. We would like to thank him for agreeing to play this support at such short notice. You’ll like what you hear.

KESTON COBBLERS CLUB www.kestoncobblers.club    “have all the makings of a folk-pop crossover success story. The engagingly cheerful five-piece from Kent mix four-part harmony vocal work – an asset for any commercial folk band, as Steeleye Span proved back in the 70s – with acoustic instrumentation that includes accordion, mandolin, fiddles and harmonica. But to this they add hefty and insistent percussion, distinctive melodies with engaging hooks, and further instrumentation that includes keyboards and brass. The result is a folk-tinged pop fusion style dominated by slick vocal work rather than instrumental passages.”
