Macmillan Haslemere & District’s Annual Summer Lunch, now in its tenth year, was once again well attended by local ladies, raising over £1400.
Despite changeable weather and an exciting Wimbledon schedule to compete with, more than 70 ladies sat down to a delicious lunch prepared by the local Macmillan fundraising team followed by an interesting talk from Alan Walsh. Mr Walsh joined the British Airports Authority Constabulary at Heathrow in January 1968 and was the worlds first ever Drug Dog Handler at an International airport. He entertained the ladies with stories of he and his drug dog, Rusty’s interesting career, how drug detection training is carried out with dogs and the successes they had over the years.
After lunch the ladies were treated to a little retail therapy with a selection of gift and plant stalls on offer.
