Bishnu Kharel, the owner of the renowned Bayleaf Indian Restaurant in Grayshott Village, together with staff and friends, attended the recent very prestigious “2016 British Curry Awards” event held at the Battersea Evolution venue. There were over 1600 attendees representing hundreds of restaurants in Britain. The event was hosted by impressionist Alistair McGowan in the presence of Sarah, Duchess of York and many other dignitaries. There was a buzz of excitement and expectation when it came to the presentation of the awards. The atmosphere can only be described as electric.
Bishnu was then overwhelmed and obviously delighted to be presented with an award for being one of four finalists representing the South East of England, not just for himself, but for his staff and supportive customers. It will take pride of place in his restaurant.
He went on to say how pleasing it was that Dick Smith, Phil Bates, Richard Millard and Paul Guerney were able to join him on the night, as they had given him massive support over the last few years.
Dick Smith responded by saying how thrilled he was to attend, and congratulated Bishnu for his tremendous achievement, not only for his fine cuisine, but for his support through sponsorships and donations to the local community; one being the latest Christmas Light Scheme.
