Silver Stormtroopers take home the Silver

Grayshott Primary School’s annual “Dads’ Football Tournament” was blessed with stunning weather again this year enabling the event to raise a staggering £1,600. The money raised will help  provide exciting resources for the school’s pupils.  Huge thanks go to generous sponsors Places for People and BMW Mini at Hindhead for their ongoing support of the event.  It was a nail biting tournament but the Silver Stormtroopers (representing year 5 Silver class dads) ultimately emerged victorious.

Dads from the Silver Storntroopers won the tournament much to the delight of their children who had cheered them on.

The first semi-final was between the Silver Stormtroopers and the Red Dragons.  It was closely fought but a goal by their sharp shooting captain Luke Corbett took Silver to victory with a 1-0 score. The second semi-final was between  Gold Fish and Purple Power which was a battle to the end but ultimately decided by a masterful header from Captain Stuart Hopwood, giving the Gold Fish a 1-0 victory.

In the Final, Silver got off to a flying start with another goal from Captain Corbett but, despite the Gold Fish (representing year 6 Gold class dads)  piling on the pressure in the second half, the Silver Stormtroopers reigned triumphant with a 1-0 victory!

Headteacher, Mrs Sharon Pritchard presented the winners’ trophy and medals to the Silver Stormtroopers who sprayed the crowd and each other with bubbly. The Gold Fish received the runners up plate and ‘man of the match’ was awarded to Darren Foulds who was the lucky winner of a month’s family membership at Haslemere Leisure Centre.

CM Sports generously provided referees for all the tournament’s matches while numerous parents kindly volunteered to run the bar, barbeque and children’s play area throughout the evening. At the end of the evening Mrs Pritchard said “We are truly grateful for the amazing support we have received from so many of our parents and supporters today.  This is a wonderful event which brings everyone together to have some fun.  The funds raised will be used to help make our brilliant school even better!”
